What is Spot UV?
Spot UV is a printing technique that involves applying a high-gloss ultraviolet (UV) coating to specific areas of a printed piece, creating a striking contrast between the glossy and matte surfaces. This method enhances the print’s visual appeal and tactile experience by highlighting certain design elements, such as logos, images, or text. The UV coating is cured using ultraviolet light, making it durable and resistant to smudging. Spot UV is commonly used in business cards, brochures, and packaging to add a touch of sophistication and professionalism.
Spot UV is available for most of our postcard and business card products.
How to Submit Files for Spot UV
You must include a Spot UV template file and the regular print file when creating a Spot UV job. The Spot UV template file shows where the UV coating needs to be applied.
We recommend creating mask files in vector-based programs such as Illustrator or CorelDRAW for better quality.
Please only use solid 100% K to indicate where you want the UV. Do not use shadows, glows, or grayscale images. White will indicate no UV.
